JAY MORAN

For a good part of my adult life, I did what you might expect from an ambitious young American. I earned a JD and MBA from an elite university. Worked as a consultant. Practiced corporate law with a mega firm. Followed the script.

Then I walked away.

I bought a one-way ticket and moved to Barcelona, Spain. I wrote short stories, lived simply, and explored a city that is known to attract other exiles with unconventional aims. Along the way I discovered the joy of university teaching.

But finishing the novel was always why I stayed.

Searching for Sky is what came out of that unlikely path. It took me a long time to write it. I think that shows — in the best way.

My previous book, Why Are We Bad at Picking Good Leaders? (Wiley, 2011), was named one of the Top 10 Business Books of the Year by The Globe and Mail.
